I applied online. I interviewed at Economist Group
Interview
Their Initial Screening, but you're asked a couple technical questions, more than previous screening calls.
Their interview process: 2 rounds of interviews, portfolio showcase.
The first round is an interview was with their lead product designer presenting one case study, rarely any technical/competency questions were asked.
Second round, you have to present 2 case studies to lead designers, rarely any technical/competency questions were asked.
After the interview, they do give decent feedback. However, due to the small nature of their teams (estimate 16 designers), you are competing for one role.

I applied online. I interviewed at Economist Group in May 2026
Interview
4 stages but dropped out voluntarily from 2 stage. The first stage was with the talent team to go through the process, the role and expectations which was I thought very organised. The second stage was with the hiring manager. The third stage would be a task and potentially a 4th stage with someone from the leadership team.

Question 1
Any questions about ERP system implementation and change management, IFRS 18, enterprise risk etc
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Economist Group (New York, NY) in Apr 2026
Interview
Good conversation with the recruiter based in London via video call. I got a strong sense of the role and the company culture.
I then had a call with the hiring manager. The conversation shifted quite a bit between broad topics, specific questions, and higher-level strategy, so at times it was a little hard to follow. That said, he came across as someone who would be great to work for.
The final stage included a presentation and panel interview. I didn’t end up getting an offer. It was definitely a challenging part and the guys put you under pressure, and looking back, there are things I would have prepared for differently, so I understand why they decided to move in another direction.
Overall, it was a positive experience, and I would apply again as they seem like a good company who have a decent product
