I only wrote 1 Pro because thats about the only positive about this company, it really comes to how much time you are willing to sell to them and how much your time is worth. Things have gone downhill since the market has turned into crypto winter(cutting perks quietly, layoff people quietly for slightest mistake). The company is not why CZ portrays it is, this is an authoritarian company with the Chinese 996-OT to your death culture and combine with the Singaporean lack of empathy culture. 1. You see a lot of ppl saying about OT, it's real. They call it hardcore, but the truth is 55-60 hours is the minimum. If you are a manager, expect 65-70 hours a week. This has gotten so bad in 2023 because everyone was afraid of being lay off, so everyone pushes everyone very hard. This kind of goes back to my 996 and lack of empathy culture. This begs the questions how much time you are willing to sell. Remember, this is a company that would not hesitate to ask you work on Friday night/ weekend . 2. They call it transparency, but its more like surveillance. CZ often mentions transparency publicly in interview/twitter and tries to portray as an open to suggestion etc, but in reality it's not the kind of transparency you would think where employers listen to employee's concern. What they mean is your superior have data on how much time you are online, how many message you send, and how much time you spend in meeting. 3. Don't be fooled by the appearance of western culture: I must admit the company has done a great job of creating the image of an international company image with high profile non-Chinese executive speaking at conference, TV interview, etc, but this is just smoke to strengthen the image. Everyone in the company knows the company is tightly controlled by the founders group where most of them from China, hence the 996 culture. 4. Quite a few people have mentioned you are toasted if you dont speak mandarin. 100% true if you don't know the language. You will eventually run into trouble. 4. Promotion: I think its okay as long as you don't look to be a manager. A manager in the company would have to sell his or her time and soul. 5. This is a company that gives you a nice package but will ask for your leg and arm in return. With 2 of the most notorious work culture in a single company, it's up to you to join this company or not.
