Pros

A great New York driven firm You are valued for your views and open thoughts Culture is brilliant

Cons

APAC region does not carry the companies vision and principles well at all. Too much senior level "dirty power politics" hampering the APAC region. Good people made victims of personal preferences of senior management in APAC region. You have to be in someone's good books to survive in the APAC region.

Pros

Good name on the resume Good non-cash benefits - Top notch health insurance, one of the best maternity & paternity in HK, annual leave increase with length of tenure Job safety - Higher turnover than most buy side peers, therefore jobs for those who haven't leave yet are pretty safe

Cons

Poor compensation - Your personal or even team performance have almost no impact to the bonus no matter you are in front/back office, as the company is big enough that there is always a region/business that is not performing. Forget about pay raise to catch up with local inflation, because you ain't getting any raise if you NYC colleagues are not getting theirs. Work life balance - Buy side pay with sell side hours, poor support from overseas requires one to keep emailing, calling people in US / UK at night just to get people do what they suppose to do. Bureaucracy - Very top heavy firm with lots of talkers and little doers. Growth is slowing therefore senior management's effort is more focus on getting more business / functions under their umbrella to secure their own position.
