Pros

Everyone has no choice but to take the ownership by stamping their name on the piece of work. So staff is responsible and, in general, willing to offer help Permanent employment

Cons

Japanese corporate culture is the root of all problems. Slow to market changes, operation-driven, and stupid IT systems Not much career progression if you are not a Japanese (for overseas offices) Profit margin is low due to significant meaningless manual work and endless reporting Below market rates

Pros

Good bonus. You will always have a chance to meet new people as the turnover rate is very high. You will join a very united team as everyone is suffering in this hell. You can grow very fast as what doesn't kill you will make you stronger.

Cons

Slavery in 2023. OT not compensated if your grade is above administrator. You will need manager's approval to claim those extra hours if you're an administrator. No work life balance as we are frequently being asked to work half day during weekends. We are requested to work until 8pm on every workdays, they also monitor who is arriving late and if people are coming back from lunch on time You will be requested to work half day on statutory holidays with no compensation. Management said he would check with HR but then he pretended nothing happened afterwards. So we have no money and no compensation leave. I think it's against the law but who dares to speak up? Of course you're expected to work on your annul leaves if you're not traveling overseas/block leave. Calling sick is not an option as they expected you to notify management and work from home even if you're not feeling well. Talking about work from home, it is only available when you're not feeling well and have management approval. Although the management said it is considered to resume work from home arrangement, you need to spend the saved travelling time to work extra hours. By the way the management works from home frequently and takes sick leave whenever he likes.
