Pros

- good perks for staff, daily food allowance, learning and development - OKX becoming more famous brand with more marketing this year - seems like company has a lot of money, one of the few crypto shops still hiring this year

Cons

- total mainland Chinese culture, no international culture, Chinese management style, drink a lot and speak mandarin (many people cannot speak proper English) - internal conflicts and competition is encouraged, lots of politics and infighting, always restructuring teams - worst than 9-9-6, work 24-7, long hours and all time zones - not honest during recruitment process, don’t believe what they say, better ask your real friends on the inside

Pros

- Decent pay, but it comes with 2x - 3x workload comparing to other companies

Cons

- Chinese management style, 996 working hours expected, could call you at midnight/on Sundays, no compensation for OT except dinner - A follower in the industry, unclear vision, wants to be 'the best no2 exchange', product ideas are mostly from Binance's existing features, no innovation - Management has no idea what they are doing, constant restructuring to become 'international', people switch teams every 2-3 months, but most employees are still from China - Chinese employees are preferred, want employees to communicate in English but will revert to Chinese once Chinese employees do not know how to express in English - Most documentations are in Chinese or poor English - Very messy internal system and bureaucracy, may need to approach multiple stakeholders from different teams to get a single issue solved - No guidance from seniors, expected to complete everything on your own without errors - A 'blaming' culture, when there is something wrong management will find someone to blame instead of fixing the underlying system - Every department is under-resourced but expected to provide quality work under tight deadlines, failing to do so will be labelled as 'underperforming'

Pros

The benefits are acceptable. The company offers employees a fitness allowance of 6000 HKD per year, which can be utilized for various purposes, such as gym memberships. Additionally, there is a foodpanda lunch allowance of 110 HKD and a foodpanda dinner allowance of 150 HKD provided for every weekday. Please note that the 150 HKD foodpanda dinner allowance can only be utilized from 7 pm onwards.

Cons

Do not come. Stay away for your health. Work-life balance does not exist here, because the company expects you to be available 24/7, disregarding any boundaries between work and personal life. Anyone may contact you at any time, including during your sick leave, annual leave, public holidays, weekends, and even weekdays at 11pm. To make matters worse, the option for remote work, which was previously allowed, was abruptly revoked when the CEO noticed a decrease in office attendance. So, no more WFH. Now, all employees are obligated to be physically present in the office 5 days a week. Long working hours and mandatory commuting have since become part of the job requirements. To keep pace with colleagues in Beijing, excessive overtime is frequently required. The company's management is extremely poor, lacking even the most fundamental respect for human beings. Employees are viewed as disposable resources, easily replaceable and undervalued. The team lead operates with zero knowledge about the codebase, business knowledge, and the overall workflow. Despite holding the position of an engineering director, it is puzzling how the team lead obtained this role without the necessary expertise. Due to his lack of knowledge about the codebase, the team lead oversimplifies the development process, expecting features to be built effortlessly, as if making a wish at a wishing well. Unfortunately, his approach mainly involves pressuring his subordinates to work overtime, all in the name of professional growth for the subordinates. However, it appears that the only thing that seems to grow is his own paycheck. To make matters worse, he often takes credit for the accomplishments of his subordinates, which is demoralizing and unjust. No one recognizes or appreciates your effort, instead, your manager steals the credit for your work, brings home tons of cash bonus, and leave you with nothing other than the ever-growing issues and requirements. This is a Chinese company with almost zero international culture. A significant portion of documentation and codebase comments are in Chinese. A lot of the meetings are conducted in Mandarin. This can create a communication barrier for non-Chinese speakers. Please disregard any insincere canned response left as a comment by the official company account, as they may not address the genuine concerns expressed here.
